Terms of Service
The agreement between you and us when you browse the platform, buy a ticket, or run an event on it.
1. The agreement
These terms are a contract between you and , the operator of EventMU. By using the platform — browsing events, creating an account, buying a ticket, or publishing an event — you accept them. If you do not accept them, do not use the platform.
Our Privacy Policy and Refund & Cancellation Policy form part of these terms.
2. Our role
We provide the ticketing platform. We are not the promoter, producer, or host of the events listed on it. Each event is offered by an independent organizer, who is solely responsible for the event itself: the programme, the venue, safety, the accuracy of the listing, the terms of admission, and the refund policy attached to it.
When you buy a ticket, your contract for attendance is with the organizer. We act as their limited agent to list the event, collect payment, and issue the ticket. A ticket is a revocable licence to attend, not a transfer of any interest in the event.
3. Your account
- You must be at least 18, or have the consent of a parent or guardian, to create an account and transact.
- The details you give us must be accurate and kept up to date. Tickets and notices go to the email address on the order, and we are not responsible for what happens if it is wrong.
- Keep your credentials to yourself. You are responsible for activity under your account until you tell us it has been compromised.
- If we created an account for you at checkout, it stays inactive until you set a password or add a passkey. Until you do, you cannot sign in — your ticket still works.
- One person, one account. Accounts may not be shared, sold, or transferred.
4. Buying tickets
- An order is confirmed only once payment is completed and we send you a confirmation. Reaching the checkout page, or holding a ticket in a reservation while you pay, does not by itself secure a place.
- Inventory is finite and reservations expire. If a reservation lapses before payment clears, the ticket returns to sale.
- Some events limit how many tickets one person may buy, restrict who may attend, or require information at checkout before entry is granted. Those conditions are shown on the event page and form part of your purchase.
- Where an event is password-protected, invitation-only, or restricted to a group, sharing the means of access with someone who is not entitled to it may result in the order being cancelled.
- If an obvious pricing or description error is published, we or the organizer may cancel the affected orders and refund them in full rather than honour the error.
- Reselling a ticket above face value, or through an unauthorized channel, is not permitted and may void it.
5. Prices and fees
Ticket prices are set by the organizer, in the currency shown on the event page. The total payable, including any service fee, payment processing charge, and applicable tax, is displayed before you confirm the order. We do not add charges after checkout.
Where your bank or card issuer applies a currency conversion or cross-border charge, that is between you and them. Any fee shown as non-refundable at checkout stays non-refundable unless the event is cancelled by the organizer or the law requires otherwise.
6. Your ticket and entry
- Tickets are delivered electronically and carry a unique code. Anyone presenting that code may be admitted, so treat it like cash and do not post it publicly.
- Each code admits once. A duplicated or already-scanned code will be refused at the door.
- Admission is at the organizer's discretion, subject to the venue's conditions of entry, capacity, and safety requirements. The organizer may refuse entry to, or remove, anyone behaving unlawfully or unsafely, normally without a refund.
- For online events, access details are issued only to the confirmed ticket holder and must not be forwarded.
- Where a certificate is issued after an event, it certifies attendance as recorded by the organizer. We can verify that a certificate we issued is genuine; we do not vouch for the content of the event it attests to.
7. Changes and cancellations
Organizers may change the programme, speakers, timing, or venue of an event, and may postpone or cancel it. We pass on notice of material changes to the email address on the order as soon as we receive it.
What you are entitled to when an event changes, is postponed, or is cancelled is set out in our Refund & Cancellation Policy, read together with the organizer's own policy shown on the event page.
8. Terms for organizers
If you publish an event, you additionally agree that:
- you have the legal right and any licence, permit, or insurance needed to run the event, and the listing is accurate and not misleading;
- you will honour every ticket sold and hold the event as described, or refund it under your stated policy;
- you set your own refund policy and are responsible for applying it consistently and lawfully;
- you are responsible for the tax treatment of your ticket sales and for any invoice your attendees require;
- you handle attendee personal data as an independent data controller, use it only for the event it was collected for, and comply with applicable data protection law;
- you control who on your team has access, and are responsible for what they do with it;
- payouts are made to the account you verify with us, on the schedule and after the hold period we notify, net of fees, refunds, chargebacks, and any commission owed on referred sales;
- we may withhold or reverse a payout where an order is disputed, suspected fraudulent, or where a refund obligation is outstanding;
- we may remove a listing that breaches these terms, is unlawful, or attracts a pattern of complaints we cannot resolve with you.
9. Referrals
Where an organizer opts an event into referrals, a user may generate a referral link and earn the commission the organizer sets on sales attributed to it. Attribution is by cookie for a limited window, the most recent referral for that event wins, and commission is payable only on orders that are paid and not refunded, after the approval hold period has passed. Commission comes out of the organizer's proceeds and never changes what the buyer pays.
Self-referral, misrepresentation of the event, unsolicited bulk messaging, and bidding on the platform or organizer name in paid search are not permitted, and forfeit the commission concerned.
10. Acceptable use
You must not:
- use the platform for anything unlawful, fraudulent, or deceptive, including money laundering or the sale of prohibited goods or services;
- probe, scan, or attempt to breach the platform's security, or access data that is not yours;
- scrape, crawl at a rate that degrades service, or bulk-harvest listings or personal data;
- use bots or scripts to acquire tickets, or circumvent purchase limits;
- impersonate another person or organization, or misrepresent your affiliation with one;
- upload malware, or content that is defamatory, hateful, obscene, or infringes someone else's rights;
- interfere with, disassemble, or build a competing service out of the platform.
11. Content and intellectual property
The platform, its software, and its branding belong to us and our licensors. Nothing in these terms transfers any of it to you.
Content you upload — event descriptions, images, documents, and the like — remains yours. You grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, reproduce, and display it as needed to operate and promote the platform and your listing. You warrant that you have the rights to everything you upload. We may remove content that breaches these terms or a third party's rights.
12. Suspension and termination
You may close your account at any time. We may suspend or close an account, cancel an order, or remove an event where we reasonably believe these terms have been breached, where required by law, or where continuing would expose us, an organizer, or attendees to fraud or harm. Where it is practical and lawful to do so, we will tell you why and give you a chance to put it right.
Suspension does not, by itself, cancel a valid ticket you already hold, and it does not extinguish a refund you are already owed. Terms that by their nature survive termination — fees due, liability, indemnity, and governing law — continue to apply.
13. Disclaimers
The platform is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. We do not warrant that it will be uninterrupted or error-free, and we do not warrant or endorse any event, organizer, venue, or speaker listed on it.
Nothing in these terms excludes any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud. Where you deal with us as a consumer, your statutory rights are unaffected.
14. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for anything that happens at or because of an event, for an organizer's acts or omissions, or for indirect or consequential loss, loss of profit, loss of opportunity, or loss of data.
Where we are liable to you in connection with an order, our total liability is limited to the amount you paid for that order. Where we are liable to an organizer, our total liability is limited to the fees we earned on the transactions concerned in the twelve months before the claim arose.
15. Indemnity
If you publish an event or upload content, you will indemnify us against claims, losses, and reasonable costs arising from your event, your content, your breach of these terms, or your breach of any law — including claims brought by your attendees.
16. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the service and the law change. The date at the top of the page reflects the current version, and material changes will be notified before they take effect. Orders are governed by the terms in force when they were placed. Continuing to use the platform after a change takes effect means you accept it.
17. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of , and the courts of have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute, without prejudice to any mandatory right you have to bring proceedings where you live.
If any provision is found unenforceable, the rest continues in force. Our not enforcing a term on one occasion is not a waiver of it.
